Starter

TV Nine for XI: No Limits, 8:00p.m. (ESPN)

Another installment in the fabulous female-centered documentary series follows diver Audrey Mestre in her tragic attempt to break the free-diving depth record. It's difficult to quibble with this documentary series, save one little complaint: You have nine films to honor title XI and you don't premiere them at 9 o'clock?

Reserves

Soccer Copa Mexico: Toros del Celaya vs. Monarcas de Morelia, (ESPN3)

If you needed any evidence of how seriously Mexican fans take their domestic soccer, check out this video from a preseason friendly between Chivas and America. There had already been fights before the game and four men sent off with red cards when fans stormed the field and started a giant brawl. Imagine how things will go now that the games have actually started to matter.

WNBA New York Liberty vs. Indiana Fever, 7:00p.m. (ESPN2 & ESPN3)

Bill freaking Laimbeer brings his Liberty to take on the defending WNBA champs, who have a player with one of the best names in sports: guard Shavonte Zellous.

Soccer Cosmos Classic: World All Stars vs. New York Cosmos, 7:00p.m. (One World Sports)

Relive soccer's glory days in New York as Pele and pals meet up with a collection of global superstars. Per tradition in the 70s, all salaries were paid in the form platform shoes and cocaine.

Olympic Sports FINA World Aquatic Championships: Women's Water Polo USA vs. Canada, 6:00 p.m. (Universal Sports Network)

Team USA member Kami Craig is an alum of Santa Ynez Valley Union High School, which just happens to be my alma mater. Craig came to Barcelona to tell a story—to tell the whole wide world this is Pirate territory.

Deep Bench

TV 2013 Memory Games, 7:00p.m. (Science)

This impressively assembled documentary follows competitors as they attempt to prove that they possess America's best memory. Events include a timed memorization of a deck of cards, remembering hundreds of names and faces, and reciting personal information like phone numbers of random spectators. The production includes tips on boosting your own memory. This show also serves the purpose of making you feel very, very stupid.
