Anthony Weiner pokes fun at Bill de Blasio's Patriots fandom

Anthony Weiner poked fun at New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio for rooting for the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is rooting for the New England Patriots in Sunday's Super Bowl, opening him up to criticism from all directions -- including Anthony Weiner.

Weiner, a former U.S. Representative, was among nine Democratic candidates who lost to DeBlasio in the 2013 New York City mayoral election.

De Blasio grew up in Massachusetts, so he does have a legitimate claim to Patriots fandom.

Louis C.K. on Deflategate: 'I think it's hilarious'

He also said on Tuesday that he doesn't believe the Patriots are guilty in the Deflategate controversy that has clouded the lead-up to Super Bowl XLIX.

“I believe their story. And I’m obviously a fan, and I’m biased. And I really want them to win, and this obviously may be the last chance for Belichick and Brady to win,” he said.

“But I’m saying just on a logic level, I can’t see the logic of why someone would do that and not think it would be a problem in a society where everything becomes public.”
