Jiří Procházka Clears Air With Update on Next UFC Fight Amid Title Fight Rumors

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jiří Procházka is tired of the lack of clarity surrounding his next fight. However, it could be good for the 33-year-old Czech Republic native, as the multiple-time title challenger suffered his last loss at UFC 327 in April in an unusual way.

Although newly-crowned UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Carlos Ulberg left the Kaseya Center crowd in Miami, FL, floored with a devastating first-round TKO against the always durable Procházka, it came with a costly price: an extended injury layoff.

In a fight that only lasted three minutes and 45 seconds of literal Octagon action, Ulberg, 35, overcame an unceremonious right knee ACL tear that has kept him away from active competition since. Meanwhile, Procházka suffered minor lacerations requiring standard recovery time from the stoppage loss.

Therefore, portions of the MMA community online have since speculated that Procházka would earn another title shot should Ulberg remain inactive from his injury for an extended period. Tired of the debating and rumor-type social media drama, Procházka took to social media to address the latest with his next fight.

For further clarity, neither the UFC nor Procházka has made any official announcements at this time.

"Just don't believe every bulls*** [post] on the internet," Procházka posted. "[My next] fight is not confirmed yet, still working on that."

Procházka has been linked to a fight with fellow UFC light heavyweight contender and former middleweight title challenger Paulo Costa. However, should they fight, it's unclear whether a vacant or an interim title would be at stake. If it were vacant, Ulberg would be stripped of his title by definition to allow Procházka vs. Costa to proceed in that format.

︀︀"One thing is sure. I want my preparation to be truly thorough — to break everything down — and to start from the roots that have long been a part of me," Procházka added.

If it were an interim title fight, however, the winner could unify the belt against Ulberg when he is 100 percent healthy to determine an undisputed champion down the line.

Ulberg has previously teased a return to action in "early 2027," offering no indication that he would have to vacate his title without successfully defending it (or at least attempting to).

UFC 332 Main Event Still Unclear

The UFC still has not announced a main event for UFC 332 in Salt Lake City, UT. The event is set for Saturday, Oct. 3 at Delta Center, which is the first of two numbered events that month for the promotion.

Procházka won the UFC light heavyweight title in June 2022 at UFC 275 against Glover Teixeira, but never successfully defended it afterward.
