Congratulations to Clovis softball P/1B Lauryn Carranco for being voted SBLive’s Northern California High School Athlete of the Week for May 23-29!
The senior was dominant in shutouts against Central and Buchanan to lead the Cougars to a Central Section Division 1 championship.
Carranco ran away with this week's honor, receiving 72.69% of the total vote.

SOFTBALL:
Breanna Romero, Sheldon:
Romero tossed complete games with only one run allowed against Rocklin and Lincoln (Stockton) to steer the Huskies to a Sac-Joaquin Section D1 title.
Sophia Asar, Los Altos:
Asar got a win in the circle in the semifinals against Pacific Grove, threw a no-hitter in the championship against Piedmont Hills, and also hit 3-7 with two walks and two RBIs to guide the Eagles to a Central Coast Section D4 title.
Giselle Aguirre, Caruthers:
Aguirre hit 6-8 with three extra-base hits, a walk, four RBIs, and six runs scored in the semifinals and finals as the Blue Raiders stormed their way to a Central Section D5 title.
Kyra Mason, Benicia:
Mason hit 4-6 with three doubles and three RBIs in two games, and went on to score three runs to help lead the Panthers to a CIFNCS Division 2 championship.
Lauren Osheroff, Marin Catholic:
Osheroff hit 5-9 with two home runs, two doubles, a walk, and three RBIs in the final two rounds of the North Coast Section D2 playoffs.
Tayler Biehl, Vista Del Lago:
Biehl hit 5-8 with a homer, a triple, a double, and four runs scored in wins over Vanden and Central Catholic to guide the Eagles to a CIFSJS Division 3 title.
Kendal Manley, Del Oro:
Manley hit a three-run blast in the Sac-Joaquin Section D2 semifinals, which was a win against Roseville, and went 2-4 with three RBIs and another home run in a 10-9 championship victory over St. Francis (Sacramento).
Morgan Hunter, Monache:
Hunter hurled a pair of one-hitters, one with one earned run allowed against Fowler and another in shutout fashion against Wasco, to propel the Marauders to a Central Section Division 3 title.
Ella Myers, Monterey:
Myers pitched complete games with zero earned runs allowed against Valley Christian and Capuchino, and batted 2-6 with a double, and RBI, and two runs scored to help the Dores win a CIFCCS D2 title.
Mia Castillo, Orange Cove:
Castillo threw a complete game with only one run allowed in the semifinals and a one-hit shutout in the finals to help the Titans win a CIFCS Division 4 championship.
Jess Oakland, Saint Francis (Mountain View):
Oakland hit 4-6 with a homer, three walks, four RBIs, and three runs scored in the last two games of the Central Coast Section Open Division championship to lift the Lancers to a championship.
Brianna Humphrees, Dixon:
Humphrees batted 4-8 with a homer, a double, and five RBIs in two games to help power the Rams to a Sac-Joaquin Section D4 championship.
Kira Morris, Eureka:
Morris tossed a one-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts in the CIFNCS Division 3 semifinals against Maria Carrillo, and also hit 1-2 with a double, a walk, and a run scored.
Dani Rauscher, Prospect:
Rauscher batted 6-9 with an RBI, stole five bases, and scored two runs in the final two rounds of the CIFCCS D5 playoffs.
BASEBALL:
Nick Dugan, St. Bernard's:
Dugan threw six hitless innings with 13 strikeouts (to combine with Aidan Dorsch for a no-hitter) and hit 3-4 with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored to dominate in the North Coast Section D6 finals for the champion Crusaders.
Nate Wedderburn, Monterey:
After throwing two scoreless innings and batting 1-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the semifinals against Los Gatos, Wedderburn threw a complete game shutout and hit 2-4 with a walk and a run scored against Burlingame to lead the Dores to a CIFCCS D3 title.
Gavin Rognlien, Cardinal Newman:
Rognlien went off for a line of 5-7 hitting with a homer, three doubles, seven RBIs, and three runs scored in two games as the Cardinals stormed their way to a CIFNCS D3 championship.
William Anderson, Christopher:
Anderson batted 5-7 with two doubles, a triple, a walk, five RBIs, and two runs scored in the last two rounds of the Central Coast Section Division 5 playoffs to help the Cougars win a championship.
Antonio Cabrera, Archbishop Mitty:
Cabrera tossed a two-hit shutout and hit 1-3 with a double and an RBI to guide the Monarchs to a Central Coast Section D2 finals victory over Branham.
Kai Smith, De La Salle:
Smith hit a combined 3-5 with a homer, a double, a walk, five RBIs, and three runs scored in the North Coast Section D1 semifinals and finals as the Spartans won the championship.
Jack Basseer, Foothill (Pleasanton):
Basseer hit 5-7 with a double, a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored in the final two rounds of the CIFNCS Division 1 postseason.
Gavin Farinha, Turlock Christian:
Farinha threw a one-hit shutout with 14 K's in the CIFSJS Division 7 finals and also drove in the game's only run in a 1-0 win over Valley Christian (Roseville).
Jack Brothers, Monte Vista Christian:
Brothers hit 3-3 with a double and two RBIs, and caught a runner stealing in a 5-3 CIFCCS D6 championship victory over Gunn.
Gus Tofaneli, Calaveras:
Tofaneli went 3-5 with a home run and four RBIs in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 4 championship, a 9-7 win against Marysville.
Noel Aquino, St. Francis (Watsonville):
Aquino helped lift the Sharks to a Central Coast Section Division 4 title by hitting 4-5 with a homer, two walks, and three RBIs in the final two rounds.
Jace Gilmore, Whitney (Rocklin):
Gilmore threw a complete game with zero earned runs allowed as the Wildcats knocked off McClatchy 2-1 for a CIFSJS D1 championship.
Caleb Ford, Ukiah:
In the last two games of the North Coast Section Division 2 playoffs, Ford pitched 2.1 hitless, scoreless innings and batted 4-7 with a walk, two RBIs, and three runs scored for the champion Wildcats.
Derek McNary, Hanford:
McNary pitched 6.2 scoreless innings to help lead the Bullpups to a 1-0 win over Tulare Western in the Central Section D3 semifinals.
Thomas Martinez, Del Campo:
Martinez hit 3-3 a double, a walk, and an RBI, and scored a run in Cougars' 4-2 victory against Vanden for the CIFSJS Division 3 title.
