The game is circled every year. Not only around the Southern California communities of Bellflower and Anaheim, but prep football fans throughout the country.

Mater Dei versus St. John Bosco is something of a phenomenon due to its vast gathering of future college players.

Friday's game at St. John Bosco, which sold out in three minutes Monday morning, features more than 70 players who have Division I offers. That means at least 28 future college players won't even be in the starting lineup.

Since 2016, the game has had not only Trinity League and Southern Section title implications, but also state and national championship championships at stake. The two programs have shared seven mythical national crowns in that time, according to those who attempt national rankings.

While SBLive Sports will take a more in-depth look at Friday's game, here's a lighter look between at least six of the players — three on each side — while asking what opponent they'd select if a fantasy prep football league was offered.

Most of the six were initially reluctant to single out an opponent — Mater Dei defensive back Zabien Brown wouldn't budge on "no comment," but when SBLive reporter Myckena Guerrero pushed light-heartedly, the Braves and Monarchs responded. At least a couple picked, for no other reason, friends on the other side.

Check back all week for fun and in-depth preview, game-day and post-game coverage of national No. 1 Mater Dei (7-0) versus No. 7 St. John Bosco (6-1).
