DME Academy remains No. 1; Lake Highland Prep wins 13th straight to jump to No. 6.

Florida high school girls’ basketball teams bounced into this weekend’s regional playoffs with vigor, thanks to a bevy of district championships.

DME Academy out of Daytona Beach remained on top of the High School on SI Top 25 Florida Girls Basketball Rankings despite having its 18-game win streak snapped.

Miami Country Day (23-2) and Montverde Academy (15-3) are numbers 2 and 3, respectively.

Lake Highland Prep (21-6) jumped four spots to No. 6 after winning its 13th straight game. Bolles (22-4) has won 17 consecutive games and sits at No. 9.

Booker T. Washington (19-3) out of Pensacola has won 14 straight and climbed three spots to No. 17.

Williston (18-2) also has won 14 straight and is new to the rankings at No. 21.

1. DME Academy (18-1)

Last week: 1

The Volusia County powerhouse had its 21-game win streak dating to last season snapped by The St. James Performance Academy (Springfield, Va.), 52-44, but DME remains No. 1. Senior shooting guard GiGi Battle is averaging 14.8 points per game, and senior center Sara Okeke is averaging 6.1 rebounds per game.

2. Miami Country Day (23-2)

Last week: 2

South Florida’s top team and defending Class 2A state champ had its 20-game win streak snapped by IMG Academy, 59-55, in overtime before bouncing back to overwhelm Divine Savior Academy, 108-16, for the Class 2A, District 14 title. Junior guard Jalynn Belton is averaging 12.3 points per game, and sophomore forward Rachel Luis is averaging 5.9 rebounds per game.

3. Montverde Academy (15-3)

Last week: 3

The Eagles pounded IMG Academy, 62-39, in a big Florida showdown. Missy Odom had 15 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double for MVA, which has won six of its last seven games.

4. Somerset Academy (19-4)

Last week: 4

The Canyons Cougars have won seven straight, including the Class 3A, District 11 title. Sophomore guard/forward Alana Pinnock is averaging 16.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.

5. Grandview Prep (21-4)

Last week: 5

The defending Class 1A state champ won the District 14 title. Senior point guard Jasleen Green and junior small forward Ameera Kone lead the Pride.

6. Lake Highland Prep (21-6)

Last week: 10

The Highlanders continue their upward climb, beating Windermere Prep, 49-40, for the Class 3A, District 6 title and their 13th consecutive victory. Senior Myanna Hatchette is averaging 11.4 points per game, and sophomore Aubrey Griffin is averaging 6.8 rebounds per game.

7. Central Pointe Christian Academy National (18-5)

Last week: 8

The White Tigers have won seven straight, including a 58-38 victory against Potter’s House Christian. CPCAN is led by junior guard Sofia Acuna, who is averaging 11.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.

8. Potter’s House Christian (20-5)

Last week: 6

The Lions have lost two of their last three games. Senior guard Alanna Tatum and sophomore guard/forward Marlyne Adahe lead the way.

9. Bolles (22-4)

Last week: 7

The surging Bulldogs have won 17 straight games, including the Class 3A, District 5 championship. Senior guard Evie Freeman is averaging 15.5 points per game, and senior center Terrell McCoy is averaging 6.8 rebounds per game.

10. IMG Academy (15-7)

Last week: 9

The Ascenders are up and down, beating Miami Country Day in overtime, and then losing to Montverde Academy.

11. Winter Haven (16-6)

Last week: 11

The defending Class 7A state champ Blue Devils beat Durant, 86-38, for the Class 7A, District 10 championship. Senior shooting guard Serenity Hardy is averaging 23.9 points and junior shooting guard/power forward Alyse Mercredi is averaging 7.1 rebounds per game.

12. Centennial (20-6)

Last week: 12

The Eagles bounced back from losses to Holy Trinity Episcopal and Grandview Prep by beating Fort Pierce Central and Treasure Coast for the Class 7A, District 7 title. Jailyn Williams is averaging 15.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.

13. Nova (21-4)

Last week: 13

The Titans have won six straight, including the Class 6A, District 15 title. Senior guard Jaelynn Housey and Ke’mora Evans lead the way.

14. Bishop Moore (21-4)

Last week: 15

The Hornets have won seven straight, including a 71-10 rout of Hardee for the Class 4A, District 7 title. Senior guard Alex Wolsonovich is averaging 10.9 points per game, and sophomore forward Malayah Rypien is averaging 5.4 rebounds per game.

15. Central Pointe Christian Academy (10-1)

Last week: 14

The Osceola County private school overwhelmed DME Regional, 68-44.

16. Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart (19-2)

Last week: 16

The Cyclones are storming through the competition, winning 15 of their last 16 games, including a 60-51 victory against Immaculata-La Salle for the Class 3A, District 15 championship. Senior guard Sela Travieso is averaging 15.6 points and 5.2 per game.

17. Booker T. Washington (19-3)

Last week: 20

The Wildcats have won 14 straight games, including a 48-22 victory against Pine Forest for the Class 5A, District 1 championship. Senior post player Chamiah Francis had 14 points and eight rebounds for BTW in the title game.

18. Fort Walton Beach (21-4)

Last week: 17

The Panhandle power has won six of its last seven games, including the Class 4A, District 1 title. Freshman Harmony Lee is averaging 10.5 points per game, and junior Alexis Smith is averaging 3.8 rebounds per game.

19. Bishop Kenny (23-4)

Last week: 18

The Crusaders beat Menendez, 71-20, for the Class 4A, District 4 championship. Kathleen Crawley exploded for 23 points, including five 3-pointers, and three rebounds and two assists in the title game.

20. Ocoee (21-5)

Last week: 19

The Knights are on the march, winning nine of their last 10 games, including the Class 7A, District 3 championship. Senior guard Dakara Merthie, one of the top players in Central Florida, had 15 points, three rebounds, three assists and six steals in the title game.

21. Williston (18-2)

Last week: Not ranked

The Red Devils are burning it up, winning 14 straight games heading into the regional playoffs. Freshman Janiyah Span had 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists in leading Williston past Wildwood, 72-62, for the Rural District 7 title.

22. Tampa Catholic (22-6)

Last week: 21

The Crusaders have won six of their last seven games, beating Cardinal Mooney, 59-37, for the Class 3A, District 8 title. Ashley Knox erupted for 29 points, including three 3-pointers, and nine rebounds and three steals in the championship game.

23. Doral Academy (17-8)

Last week: 22

The Firebirds have won four of their last five games, including the Class 7A, District 15 championship. Senior guard Stephanie Vega is averaging 18.4 points per game, and senior post player DJ Myers, 12.4 rebounds per game.

24. Bloomingdale (23-2)

Last week: 23

The defending Class 6A state champs have won 13 of their last 14 games, including a 56-33 victory against Armwood for the Class 6A, District 8 title.

25. Kissimmee Gateway (23-3)

Last week: 25

Osceola County’s top public school beat New Smyrna Beach, 51-46, for the Class 5A, District 7 title. Sophomore sensation Ashlynn Day had 20 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double and dished out three assists in the championship game.

Dropped out: Navarre (22-4).
