It is April Fools Day, but our nominees are no jokesters on the diamond. Our nominees for this week's Mississippi high school softball player of the week put on a show in last week's action.

We have some familiar faces in this week's poll as they have been some of the best players in the state this season. Our nominees include prolific hitters, terrific pitchers and a combination of each.

As always, we ask you, the fans, to vote for who you think is the High School on SI Mississippi high school softball player of the week.

Voting will close on April 5 at 11:59 p.m. PT.

Here are this week's nominations:

Graycin Higginbotham, Hernando

In the wins over Southaven and Horn Lake, Higginbotham finished with one home run, one triple, one double, seven RBIs, one stolen base and four runs scored.

Hannah Robertson, South Panola

In the 11-1 win over Lake Cormorant, Robertson was 2/4 with one home run, four RBIs and two runs scored.

Jade Jenkins, Northwest Rankin

In the 16-4 win over Meridian, Jenkins was 4/4 with one home run, six RBIs and four runs scored. She also tallied one hit and two runs scored in the 7-5 loss to South Panola.

Anna Etter, Lewisburg

In four games last week, Etter finished with seven hits, three doubles, five RBIs, one stolen base and one run scored.

Ella Robertson, Sumrall

In the four wins over Puckett, Laurel, Brookhaven and Columbia, Robertson finished with 10 hits, three home runs, two doubles, 10 RBIs, two stolen bases and 12 runs scored.

Alyssa Clifton, Potts Camp

In five games last week, Clifton hit five home runs including three in the 20-2 win over Ashland. She also tallied nine total hits, 12 RBIs and 11 runs scored.

Layla Owens, Itawamba Agricultural

In the wins over Amory and Pine Grove, Owens pitched 10 innings combined allowing six total hits, two earned runs with 13 strikeouts. Also in the win over Pine Grove, she tallied three hits, one double and two RBIs.

Presely Merkich, Germantown

In four games, Merkich recorded seven hits, three home runs, two doubles, seven RBIs, four stolen bases and seven runs scored.

Caroline Myrick, Northeast Jones

In the 14-9 win over Stringer, Myrick was 3/5 with one home run, four RBIs and three runs scored. Myrick also picked up the wins from the circle versus Purvis and Stringer. She pitched 10.1 total innings allowing five hits, one earned run with 13 strikeouts.

Mary Taylor Wilbourn, Grenada

In three games last week, Wilbourn was dealing from the circle. She pitched 20 total innings while allowing six earned runs with 29 strikeouts.
