Only eight schools remain in the Montana state high school baseball playoffs - all ready to bring home the big trophy.

The all-classification state playoffs begin Thursday at Vester Wilson Field in Hamilton. Reigning state champion Florence-Carlton did not advance into the field to defend its title.

The question now is, after back-to-back trips to the state semifinals, is this Belgrade's year to cash in? The Panthers are one of top seeds in the tournament, led by junior pitcher Brayton VanDyken.

This is only the third season Montana has held an overall state high school baseball tournament.
