Stephon Castle, Newton boys basketball

Castle showed why UConn is happy to have him committed, as he put up a 30-point performance against Wheeler in one of the games of the year. 

Isaiah Collier, Wheeler boys basketball

Collier came up big in the overtime win over Newton with 24 points, seven rebounds and five assists. 

Malique Ewin, Berkmar boys basketball

Ewin dropped another big-time double-double with 27 points and 15 rebounds in Berkmar’s win over Habersham Central.

Zion Fruster, Alexander boys basketball

Fruster’s double-double of 27 points, 10 boards and four assists helped Alexander get past Paulding County. 

Crystal Henderson, Kell girls basketball

Henderson scored a game-high 26 points and added three assists to help beat Lassiter. 

Jay King, First Presbyterian Day boys basketball 

King went off against Strong Rock with 45 points, seven boards and five steals, and he did it all in just three quarters. 

Peyton Law, Calhoun boys basketball

Law scored a team-high 19 points, leading a balanced attack in a 79-57 Calhoun win over Blessed Trinity.

Trelain Maddox, Buford wrestling

Maddox won the region title at 220 pounds and improved to 10-0 this season.

Connor McKay, Rabun County boys basketball

McKay had a monster night versus Union County. He dropped 47 points, adding 16 rebounds, three steals and four blocks. 

Akirria Mountain, Glynn Academy girls basketball

Mountain dropped 31 points and went 6-for-12 from behind the arc. 

Austin Paradice, Colquitt County wrestling

Paradice repeated as region champion, taking the title at 160 pounds. He won the state title at 145 pounds last year as a junior.

Brinkley Kate Reed, Coahulla Creek girls basketball

Reed led all scorers with 31 points, which was her seventh 30-point game of the season.

Sophie Smith, Denmark girls basketball

Smith stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, six rebounds, eight assists and two steals to help Denmark squeak by Gainesville. 

Devin Story, Evans boys basketball

Evans needed all of Story’s 27 points and seven boards in its two-point win over Heritage. 

Bruce Thornton, Milton boys basketball

Thornton did it all in a win over Cherokee with 17 points, six boards and got his teammates involved with his 11 assists. 

Gaby Van Brunt, St. Andrew's swimming

The junior broke several GISA records at the state meet, including the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke.

Chauncey Wiggins, Grayson boys basketball

Wiggins’ 20-point, 11-rebound double-double was needed in Grayson’s win over region opponent Parkview. 

Sophie Woodard, Rabun County girls basketball

Woodard dropped a team-high 19 points but was most impressive with her sticky fingers, collecting 10 steals.
