SBLive's Washington Top 25 high school girls basketball rankings, final: Garfield goes wire to wire in 2022-23

With WIAA regional-round play starting today, the best teams in the state are geared up to try and win a state championship.

Here are the final Top 25 all-classification girls basketball rankings in Washington (records as of Feb. 21):

1. Garfield (19-1) - 3A

After win over 3A No. 2 Lake Washington in district finals, hold at top has never been stronger.

2. Camas (21-3) - 4A

Slow starts aside, once Papermakers find spacing, groove - they are impossible to corral.

3. Woodinville (24-1) - 4A

In a step-down year after WIAA title, Falcons only lose one game. That defines extended excellence.

4. Ellensburg (21-0) - 2A

Best two-year stretch ever in this classification? If Bulldogs finish off what is expected - without a doubt.

5. Lake Washington (23-2) - 3A

In both seasons the Kangs went to WIAA title game, they didn't win districts. They know ultimate goal.

6. Nooksack Valley (23-1) - 1A

District-title win over defending state champion Lynden Christian equally dominant. Now has to do it in Yakima.

7. Tahoma (21-3) - 4A

After two full seasons of not getting out of districts, Bears played for title - and now have that look headed to Dome.

8. Lincoln of Tacoma (19-3) - 3A

Loss of 3A PCL MVP Ciona Wells (knee) crushing blow, but Abes still have sight on doing damage in backyard.

9. Davis (19-2) - 4A

First league title since 1988 ... first district championship since 2016 ... first WIAA gold ball in school history?

10. Lynden Christian (22-3) - 1A

If there is one program that can make up significant ground in chaser mode, it's Brady Bomber and company.

11. Arlington (20-2) - 3A

How good is this team? Five of 16 teams in WIAA field are from 3A Wesco - and Eagles swept whole league slate

12. Kamiakin (20-3) - 4A

Couldn't close out 4A MCC rival Richland for district title, but Braves' physical pressure ideal for state run.

13. Eastlake (19-6) - 4A

Half of team's losses are to Woodinville - and all of them are to teams still playing in postseason. Don't underestimate.

14. Lakeside of Seattle (19-6) - 3A

Backed up victory over Garfield by playing two-time 3A champions close in Metro finals. Yes, this team can win it all.

15. Stanwood (19-4) - 3A

Seems like there is another gear - maybe two - this team can shift to moving forward. That's a scary thought.

16. Sumner (21-5) - 4A

Wins 4A SPSL and reaches District 3 semifinals in "transition" year. Spartans' championship window wide as ever.

17. Richland (18-5) - 4A

Defends District 8 title, but loses PG Macie Milum (knee) in the process. More falls on Kylee Fox's plate.

18. Emerald Ridge (19-6) - 4A

Might sound outrageous, but Jaguars could be 25-0 if PG Monique Carter quadrupled shot output. She's the fuel.

19. Bellarmine Prep (20-7) - 4A

As if talented Lions aren't edgy enough, questionable seeding (No. 11) could put that mood into overdrive

20. Mead (18-3) - 3A

Yes, the 4A/3A Greater Spokane League is down - but young Panthers' postseason arrow certainly pointing up.

21. Bonney Lake (18-4) - 3A

Three of their four losses have come against Lincoln of Tacoma, so Panthers aren't awe-struck by anybody.

22. Bothell (19-6) - 4A

Sort of flies under the radar as the 4A KingCo's clear third-best team, but controlled style built for WIAA playoffs.

23. Wapato (22-1) - 1A

Firing from the hip - shooting from everywhere - these Wolves are both fun and dangerous heading into March.

24. Decatur (17-7) - 4A

Big district win over Union stopped mini-freefall and keeps Gators alive for first Dome berth since 2000.

25. Meadowdale (18-6) - 3A

PG Gia Powell keeps setting program records (41 points, nine 3s against Monroe) and elevating Mavs' chances.
