Tampa Bay signs 16-year-old 3B Perez for $1 million

Sixteen-year-old third baseman Cesar Perez signed with the Tampa Bay Rays for $1 million, SI.com has learned.

Perez is from Maracay, Venezuela, a fertile baseball area that has spawned a number of major league players, including current players Miguel Cabrera (Tigers), Carlos Guillen (Tigers), Alberto Callaspo (Royals), Anibal Sanchez (Marlins) and Martin Prado (Braves).
