The Chicago Cubs have promoted their 2015 No. 1 pick Ian Happ on Saturday afternoon.

Happ joins the Major League team after posting a .298 batting average with nine home runs and 25 RBIs in 116 plate appearances at the Triple-A level.

The Cubs are looking for a short-term replacement on the team after injuries to Addison Russell (shoulder), Jason Heyward (thumb), Jon Jay (back) and Kris Bryant (stomach).

The Cubs will play the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday afternoon at Busch Stadium. Happ will bat second and play right field.

Here's a few quick facts about the top Cubs' prospect:

Age: 22

Bats: Switch

Throws: Right

Position: Happ has spent time at second base and the outfield this season. He has played 16 games at second and 13 in the outfield.

Acquired: The Cubs selected Happ out of Cincinnati with the ninth overall pick in the 2015 draft.

Ranked: MLB.com ranks Happ as the No. 23 prospect in the majors. Baseball America ranks him at No. 55.

Scouting report from MLB.com: "Happ demonstrates balance and bat speed from both sides, though he has been more productive as a left-handed hitter in pro ball. With his deceptive strength, solid speed and baserunning instincts, he has 20-20 upside."
