It is truly a shame that the health of Mike Trout has not allowed the world of baseball fans to really see what he could accomplish with the Los Angeles Angels. His past couple of seasons have been highlighted by stretches of ridiculous statistics only to be cut short by injuries.

Trout last played a "entire" season all the way back in 2019 and Halos fans may remember just how elite he was as he took home his third career AL MVP and bombed 45 home runs.

Since then, he's only played 53 games in 2020, 36 games in 2021, and a nice spike with 120 games in 2022. He was able to fight through a chronic back issues and record 40 home runs in that span.

Looking at his 2023 campaign thus far, he has been elite AND healthy. he already has eight home runs in 29 outings and is slashing .296/.388/.583. It is also looking like LA's coaching staff has cracked the code to keeping Trout in lineups all year long and they are prioritizing giving him rest days.

"Today is the 3rd game that Mike Trout has been entirely out of the lineup. It's the Angels' 32nd game. If he misses one of every 10 games all season, he'll play 146 games, which would be the most he's played since 2016. They believe regular rest will keep him off the IL."

Even though the Angels would love to have Trout fully participating in every game obvious reasons, this approach is looking like the way to go.

The Halos currently sit at an 18-14 record and are coming off of a dominant three-game wining streak against the St.Louis Cardinals that featured a Trout walk-off home run. We cannot wait to see what else he brings this season.
