Angels News: Halos Gifted Quite the Ideal Schedule for the Month of June

In this story:

Up to this point in 2023, it's been another rollercoaster season for the Los Angeles Angels, something that's been an all too common theme for the franchise.

But things could be looking up soon, both with Anthony Rendon slated to return to the lineup early this week and the fact that the team has an easy schedule over the rest of this month.

That's quite the setup there for the Halos, particularly the fact that they're set to play a combined 10 games against the Kansas City Royals, Colorado Rockies, and the Chicago White Sox. Kansas City and Chicago occupy the bottom two spots in the AL Central, while Colorado sits in the NL West basement at 26-35.

While the Angels have been struggling, the combination of Rendon's return and the soft schedule provide a golden opportunity for them to climb back up the AL West standings.

As of early Tuesday, they're in third place in the division and nine games out of first.

Given that its early June though, there's still plenty of time for the Angels to take a significant chunk out of that deficit, and if they have a good month, climb back into firm contention along with the Rangers and Astros.

Time will tell if the Halos can do that, but they certainly have the talent to do so and the return of Rendon to the hot corner will definitely help usher things along.

Players like Hunter Renfroe will need to improve after being slow to get out of the gates, but if he can along with the Angels' pitching staff and the expected production of the Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, and Rendon trio, they just might be in the thick of a division race come the dog days of summer.
