It is pretty safe to say that if not for the Los Angeles Angels playing their best baseball of the 2023 season these past couple of weeks, Mike Trout's struggles would have been a much, much bigger story. LA has now taken home four straight series and they have done with one of their biggest stars batting .179 and posting an OPS of .669 in this month of June.

This was super evident in the last series the Angels lost, against the Houston Astros, and Trout recorded a total of 15 at-bat's over four games and only connected on one hit as LA won only one of those games. Those struggles continued for the 31-year-old slugger up until Sunday but the rest of the lineup was able to hold down the fort for him while he battled through his roadblocks.

In the Halo's 5-2 Sunday win over the Kansas City Royals, Trout had his most productive game since last month. He was able to go two for thee at the plate and even launched a homer for the first time since June 7.

There are few better things than seeing him record a dinger.

Team manager Phil Nevin shared that even though he hated to see his superstar endure such a slump, he was proud of him for not letting it break him mentally and highlighted how seriously he takes his craft.

“I was never worried about it at all,” said Nevin. “I’ve seen this before. Just as any good player goes through some struggles, compounded a little bit because it was every single day. He put in a lot of work. He kind of backed off his work. He added some work. The fact is he’s healthy.”

It is safe to say that baseball is much better with Trout performing up to par. We must give a big thanks to Taylor Ward, Brandon Drury and the red-hot Shohei Ohtani for stepping up big-time on offense over these past few weeks and just think about how much more lethal they'll be if Trout is indeed back!
