Angels News: Mickey Moniak Reflects on Call-Up, Worked Through Adversity

In this story:
Mickey Moniak understands exactly who he is right now in the baseball world and who he wants to become. He currently joins a Los Angeles Angels squad that could really use a good comeback story with someone like him.
LA has not been poor by any means this season. There is much more promise with this group than those in years prior but they still have yet to find their footing that allows them to fight amongst the top clubhouses in the league.
Their recent series against the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros proved just that and even though Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout have not had to break their backs just yet carrying the squad in 2023, more help is always needed.

Mickey Moniak, who was recently called up from AAA, could very well become that comeback-story player for the Halos this year. Fans that tuned into Spring Training a few months ago know that his option to the minor leagues was one of the more surprising decisions made by the Angels just before opening day.
But Moniak proved in his time with the Salt Lake Bees that he still holds all of the potential that made him the humber one pick in the 2016 MLB Draft. He was electric at the plate to start this year as he logged eight homers with 23 RBI's.

He humbly reflected on his journey back to a big league roster and he feels that he is more than ready.
“I definitely didn’t expect it, but I did everything I could to put myself in a good situation if I got the call,” he said. “It’s great to be back and be around the guys. To be in a situation with a team that is in position to win the AL West is definitely exciting.”
“I wasn’t too pumped to be going down to Salt Lake, but I understand it’s a business,” Moniak said. “I felt good in spring training and I think I showed the baseball player I could be."

Moniak is in an excellent position to show the world exactly what he is made of.
