Angels' Superstar Pleased to See LA Finally Surrounding Him with Depth

In this story:
Everybody should be very appreciative of the fact that they are still watching a prime form of Mike Trout at age 31 and a healthy version at that! One of the more disappointing MLB storylines this decade has been the one that details Trout as a superstar with sky-high potential but also the inability to stay on the field.
Throw in the fact that the clubhouse landed a generational gem in Shohei Ohtani and helped develop him into the superstar is today and we've missed out on the full power of this duo. However, now that both MVP candidates are playing together this season and killing it, the Halos are taking no chances.
Team manager Phil Nevin has made it very clear that even if Trout fights against him for it, he is ensuring that he plans out a good amount of rest days for him so he can either act as DH for the day or just take the match off completely.
It has definitely worked thus far as Trout has maintained his body while also putting up usual, elite numbers with a .288/.371/.525 slash line to go with eight homers on the year already.

And there has been one major difference in this 2023 season compared to others that has allowed Nevin to implement such a system for his star slugger and that has been an improved roster. With guys like Hunter Renfroe, Gio Urshela, and Matt Thaiss all having stepped up recently and taking on more offensive responsibilities, Trout is granted this luxury.
The ten time All-Star could not help but show just how grateful he is for this newfound depth within the franchise.
“Not to take anything away from the past, but I don’t think we’ve had that in a while,” Trout said.

Hopefully this production continues and Trout continues to get a nice balance of dominance and rest.
