In this story:

What else is there that can be said about St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker's season that hasn't already been said?

Walker's season has been magic from the start and it hasn't slowed down, in the slightest. The 24-year-old has looked like a superstar from Opening Day, after looking like a bust over the last few years. Friday was another example of this.

Walker was an All-Star this season and put his name on the map for Philadelphia Phillies fans, but not in the way they like. Walker took down Phillies star Kyle Schwarber in the Home Run Derby over in Philadelphia this summer. On Friday, the Cardinals began a three-game set on the road against the Phillies and Walker immediately responded with yet another homer in Philadelphia.

Jordan Walker Is Special

While the Cardinals didn't come out on top on Friday, it was yet another big night for Walker. He went 3-for-5 with a homer, two RBIs, and two runs scored.

Overall, Walker is slashing .291/.350/.513 with an .863 OPS, 27 home runs and a league-leading 96 RBIs. On top of this, Walker has 28 doubles, 17 stolen bases, and 81 Runs scored. Plus, he's at 4.1 wins above replacement. In comparison, Walker didn't finish a season with a positive WAR across his first three seasons of action in the majors. The best season that Walker had was his rookie year back in 2023. That year, Walker finished the season with -0.1 wins above replacement.

The only time that Walker hasn't been dominant at the plate this season was right after the All-Star break. For a few weeks, Walker was slow to heat up again. But he has done just that. In the month of August, Walker has slashed .351/.400/.622 with a 1.022 OPS, five home runs and 17 RBIs in 18 games played. Unsurprisingly, as Walker's bat has heated up, so too have the Cardinals in the standings.

Again, Friday wasn't the Cardinals night as they lost 7-6, but St. Louis is lucky to have Walker. He is just getting better too. His 1.022 OPS in August is his best of any month this season. Before August, his highest OPS was .912 in May.

The young slugger is red-hot right now and Phillies fans saw that in person on Friday. If he can keep swinging the bat as he has recently, the Cardinals are going to have a real shot at a playoff spot this fall.
