Dodgers: Dave Roberts Doesn't Plan On Making the Same Mistake He Did Last Year

Roberts still has expectations for Los Angeles, despite their postseason exit in 2022.

Last year, Dave Roberts put it on record that the Los Angeles Dodgers would win the 2022 World Series. We all know how that panned out, and though he knows better than to guarantee another chip ahead of the 2023 seasons, he still remains confident in his team.

Regardless of the postseason loss to the Padres last year, Roberts' standards remain high. At FanFest on Saturday, Roberts shared the goals he has for the upcoming season:

“Every year our goal is to go out there and win the west, however many games that takes. It’s going to be a different ballclub this year. I would probably say I put more pressure and expectations on myself and our ballclub than anyone else. When you wear the Dodgers uniform, that’s the bar. We’re still expecting to win the division and go beyond.”

Even with his big expectations, Roberts was careful to not take it as far as claiming a World Series this time around.

“I’m not going to do it this year. Not gonna do that again. But again, I still expect to win the World Series. I do. And I don’t think there’s anybody that’s part of our organization or fanbase that doesn’t feel that same way.”

As the team prepares for the new season, Roberts has been vocal about relying on veteran players like Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman to guide this group to success. Such players have earned their right to lead and serve as catalysts within the clubhouse.

Just as Roberts mentioned, the bar has always been set to the highest level when it comes to this winning franchise.
