Dodgers News: Blake Treinen Struggling, Kolten Wong Dominating at Triple-A for LA

Could both still be called up in September?

In some news from the farm system in Oklahoma City, the Dodgers have two players who have been playing to varying levels of success at the end of August.

One of these names is reliever Blake Treinen who looked great in his first two appearances for the minor league squad but didn't fare as well in his third rehab stint with the club.

Pitching for Triple-A Oklahoma City, Blake Treinen allowed three runs in one-third of an inning as the veteran reliever continued his comeback attempt from offseason shoulder surgery. He allowed two singles, two stolen bases, one walk, and was charged with the loss. The right-hander didn’t allow a hit or a walk in either of his first two relief appearances at Triple-A.

Rehabbing a shoulder injury that's hampered him since last season, Treinen's return was off to a great start, but this most recent outing puts another roadblock in what's been a tough few seasons for the high leverage bullpen arm.

On a more positive note, a recent pickup in the hitting ranks has been crushing the baseball since joining the Dodgers' minor league team.

Kolten Wong's season was off to a rough start with the Seattle Mariners after successful stints in the NL Central with the St. Louis Cardinals for a majority of his career and the Milwaukee Brewers more recently.

A known outstanding fielder, Wong's bat was the source of his troubles earlier in the season for the Emerald City club in 2023.

It seems as though all Wong needed was a slight mental reset down in Triple-A as he's been dominant in his first few games for LA's minor league affiliate.

In three games at AAA, Wong is 7-for-13 (.538) with one home run and six runs batted in.

Roster decisions will need to be made for both players as Dave Roberts hopes to finish the job this year and win another title for the City of Angels in 2023.
