Dodgers News: Jason Heyward’s Teammates Rave About His Impact on LA This Year

One of the best offseason signings in the league.

One of the more impactful signings from the offseason for the Dodgers was veteran outfielder Jason Heyward joining the team on a minor-league contract. Heyward was a throwaway player for the Chicago Cubs, and he just wanted a chance to prove himself once again in the big leagues.

LA gave him an opportunity, and it ended up being one of the best decisions that they made. He worked all offseason and into spring training to make the team, and once he got there, the work didn’t stop.

Heyward has proven that he still has tons of juice left in the tank, and it’s been great to see. His leadership in this club can’t be measured, and he has been a favorite of his teammates.

“You see him every day coming in working, helping the younger guys out, his whole routine, how professional he is,” catcher Will Smith said. “That rubs off on guys.”

The best part about Heyward is that he doesn’t just put on an act, but he is a true professional. He has been in the league for a while now, so he understands what it takes to find success in the majors.

Heyward has essentially been one of the glue guys for the Dodgers this season. With the team having a youth movement throughout the year, his voice has helped everyone stay together through some trying times.

“He’s such a glue in there, such a great guy, such a great teammate,” third baseman Max Muncy said. “He really just cements the clubhouse.”

Whenever a team brings someone in as a free agent, or from a trade, they need to fit the clubhouse. Heyward fit the culture in LA from the moment he got to the team, and the rest has been history.

“He’s a really selfless person out there,” pitcher Bobby Miller said. “I feel like he truly brings this team together.”

As the Dodgers get ready for the postseason to start soon, Heyward will be relied upon to help lead the way. He knows what it takes to win a World Series, and he would love nothing more than to win one with this group.
