Dodgers News: Pair of LA Stars Finish in Top 5 of NL MVP Voting

The Dodger superstars got some major recognition for their dominant seasons.

The Dodgers may not have had any official finalists for the NL MVP Award, but that didn't keep their stars from getting votes.

Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts finished fourth and fifth, respectively, for the award, just trailing the three finalists — Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado and Manny Machado.

Freeman and Betts were among the MVP favorites all year long, and deservedly so.

Freeman led the league with 199 hits and 47 doubles, and slashed .325 with 21 home runs and 100 RBIs. Betts crushed 35 home runs and 40 doubles to go along with 82 RBIs, primarily out of the leadoff spot in 2022.

Betts won both a Silver Slugger and Gold Glove for his 2022 campaign, while Freeman fell just short of the batting title. They were both named All-Stars.

There were a few other Dodgers who finished within the top 15 on the ballot. Free agent shortstop (and the third member of the Dodgers' 2022 'Big Three') Trea Turner finished in 11th, while their ace Julio Urias finished in 14th. This came a day after he finished third in the NL Cy Young voting.

Freeman and Betts had incredible seasons in LA in 2022. And good news for Dodger fans is they'll be seeing a lot more of them for many years to come.
