Sheehan is the organization’s No. 13 ranked prospect per MLB Pipeline and has really impressed in the Minors this season.
Sheehan, a sixth round pick by the Dodgers in 2021 out of Boston College, has had an excellent start to his season with Double-A Tulsa, putting together a 4-1 record with a 1.86 ERA in 12 appearances, 10 being starts for the Drillers.
He was called up to Triple-A Oklahoma City last week but did not make an appearance, so the 23-year-old will go from pitching in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Dodger Stadium in the span of roughly a week.
According to MLB Pipeline, the Dodgers No. 13 prospect's best pitch is a fastball that sits in the mid to high 90's and has been clocked as high as 99.
In addition to that, Sheehan has a quality changeup and a slider that, although it has late life, is still in development.
As of now, it looks like Sheehan's role will be to make a spot start as the team's full rotation aims to get back on track.
Although the Dodgers defeated the White Sox on Thursday, starting pitcher Michael Grove struggled as he gave up four home runs over five innings before the Dodgers won 5-4 in the 11th.
Although Grove recorded seven strikeouts, it was another inconsistent outing for the rookie as his ERA rose to 8.10 on the season.
Combined with the struggles and current injury issues to Julio Urias as well as the signing of Noah Syndergaard proving to be a bust so far, the Dodgers need another arm that can put up consistently quality outings aside from Clayton Kershaw and Bobby Miller.
And now Sheehan will get his chance to pitch against the San Francisco Giants on Friday night at 7:10 PM on SportsNet LA.
