The Los Angeles Dodgers were hit with the injury bug on Monday, as both RHP Tony Gonsolin and LHP Justin Bruihl sustained apparent injuries. Gonsolin hurt his ankle during a drill on Monday morning, while Bruihl was taken out of Monday's spring training game against the San Diego Padres with an apparent injury.

Luckily, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke to the media after the game, and provided an update on the two pitchers. Let's start with Gonsolin:

Tony Gonsolin Injury Update:

The Dodgers announced that Gonsolin suffered a sprained left ankle, and won't pitch in his next scheduled start on Wednesday. After the game, Roberts said that he expects Gonsolin to be fine by the start of the season, but they'll closely monitor the situation. Jack Harris was among those to report Dave's comments.

Justin Bruihl Injury Update:

As for Bruihl, he faced just two batters in Monday's game before being removed with an injury. Roberts called the injury back spasms/tightness, according to Juan Toribio.

The Bruihl update is a positive one, as we know that's not an injury that's going to linger or cause any long-term issues. However, the Gonsolin one is definitely a little concerning.

It does sound like Roberts isn't concerned, so maybe Dodger fans shouldn't be either. However, if he doesn't progress, it does sound like this could be something that lingers for a few weeks.

Ankle sprains are never a fun injury, and depending on the severity of them, they could linger for quite a while. However, hopefully Gonsolin's injury is just minor, and it doesn't affect his ramp up too much ahead of the start of the season.

Gonsolin is slated to have a big role in the Dodgers rotation, but above all else, Los Angeles needs him healthy this season. This isn't exactly the start to the spring the team wanted, but hopefully this becomes just a minor setback on another dominant season for Gonsolin.
