Dodgers NL West Rival Making Big Push to Sign Cody Bellinger

This would hurt Dodger fans a lot.

Look away Dodgers fans, this one might hurt.

With free agency about to begin, players will be either re-signing with their current clubhouses or going to new teams.

Earlier this week, Jon Heyman of the New York Post released an article predicting where players will sign this offseason and which teams are best suited for the top players in free agency.

Amongst the players that were on this list was former five-year Dodgers center fielder Cody Bellinger.

Heyman listed three potential teams that Bellinger could sign with this offseason which included the New York Yankees and the Chicago Cubs. However, the one that might hurt Dodgers fans the most on this list was the San Francisco Giants.

To make matters worse, Heyman isn't the only one who thinks Belligner could sign with San Francisco as Jesse Rogers of ESPN listed the Giants as a possible suitor to sign the former 2019 NL MVP.

Aside from winning the MVP in 2019, Bellinger was a former Rookie of the Year winner in 2017, as well as a World Series Champion in 2020, a Gold Glove winner, and a Silver Slugger winner in 2019.

After having his MVP season in 2019, Bellinger failed to ever come close to replicating that season over the next three years with the Dodgers as he failed to hit even over .250 during that time.

While Bellinger's struggles began in 2020, Dodgers fans will never forget his game-saving catch in the NLCS that year.

This past offseason, Bellinger signed a one-year deal with the Cubs.

Last year, he hit .307 with a .881 OPS while raking in 26 home runs, 97 RBIs, and 29 doubles, making himself the recipient of the MLB Comeback Player of the Year award.

Now with free agency here, Bellinger will look to sign a long term deal that could make him the second-highest paid player of the offseason after Shohei Ohtani.
