The Los Angeles Dodgers have had a solid week in the leadup to MLB's August 1 trade deadline, filling needs with Kiké Hernandez, Amed Rosario, Joe Kelly, and Lance Lynn, but they're still looking for another arm to add to their rotation with the trade deadline less than 24 hours away.

LA acquired Lynn from the Chicago White Sox, but they missed on fellow starters Lucas Giolito and Jordan Montgomery, who went to the Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers, respectively.

That said, they've been linked to St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jack Flaherty, who was teammates with Montgomery in St. Louis until his Saturday move to Texas.

There's been a lot of speculation surrounding Flaherty with the Cardinals beginning to undergo a rebuild, and Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller put together a hypothetical deal that would see the Los Angeles native head back home.

"Los Angeles Dodgers: RHP Landon Knack to St. Louis Cardinals for RHP Jack Flaherty

"St. Louis’ Jack Flaherty is still available, though. The Cardinals would love to get a borderline MLB-ready pitching prospect in exchange for Flaherty, and 2020 second-round draft pick Landon Knack fits the bill." (via Bleacher Report)

The Dodgers' No. 16 prospect, Knack primarily uses a heavy fastball along with an advanced slider, and he's had a solid season in 2023, posting a combined 2.58 ERA this year in Double-A and Triple-A along with a 1.12 WHIP, and he has potential to be a starter soon, especially for the reloading Cardinals.

It could take another prospect like infielder Jorbit Vivas, the organization's No. 11 prospect, to get a deal done, but with Flaherty set to be a free agent this offseason, it will lower his trade value.

It's not known as of yet whether the Dodgers will be able to bring Flaherty in, but they certainly need another starter before Tuesday's 3:00 p.m. deadline -- and they likely won't stop talking until they do add one more.
