Dodgers vs. Padres NLDS Game 3 Chat, Thursday at 6:08 p.m. on MLBN

Howard Cole

[Updated: Final score: Dodgers 12, Padres 3. Julio Urias the winner (1-0), Adrian Morejon the loser (0-1). No home runs. Dodgers sweep the series, three games to none and move on to to face the Braves in the National League Championship Series, beginning Sunday at Texas.]

The postseason is upon us and that means an entirely new animal of game thread. Or chat, if you will. A more important one, and you're going to need company as you sit nervously in front of the tube. This'll help with that.

Thursday marks the third of a possible five with the Padres at Globe Life Field. First pitch is at 6:08 p.m. PT on FSI.

Reader-participation game threads are posted in this space daily for every Dodgers contest that is telecast locally or nationally, including the postseason as long as the locals are in there. All of them. With yours truly as the discussion host.

I post a new game thread, along with the lineups and the most recent game's highlights in this space at least 40 minutes minutes prior to first pitch each night. So if you're looking for a reliable source for that information, you'll find it here.

To participate, click the "follow" button in the top right corner of this web page and type your thoughts into the comments section at the bottom of the page. You'll need to set up an "account" if you're a newcomer to the comments section. I hope you will. Feel free to email me if you get stuck.

Fresh Prince hit 100 mph. Belli 98 mph!

Please don’t tell me that Jansen will pitch the ninth.

Bases loaded, nobody out and we don't scratch? I hope we got that crap out of our system...

Come on Belli - slam please!

Great recovery. Nothing fazes Julio.

Need to keep this to a 1 run inning...

So did Doc try to Rope a Dope Tingler by getting him to stack his lineup for a righty and then switching in a lefty? Tingler doesn't seem to worship at the same alter of splits that Doc/Friedman do. Also doesn't seem worth burning 2 starters in Game 3. I know, Doc is weird ...

RoyDodger

Is Tingler going for a record?

Dodger talent is overwhelming! Love them. Betts is the crown jewel.

We had a built-in advantage because of our starting pitching depth, and because S.D.'s bullpen is overtaxed because of injuries to their starters. So what does Doc do? Make it a bullpen game. Why would we cede the advantage our starting pitching depth gives us? If we have to go to a game 4 or 5, we'll be in the same position as S.D.

Mookie changed shoes.

Theses bullpen strategies just end up looking like a waste of pitching. Just my opinion.

Roberts’ gamble on Joc paid off.

Looked like Mookie was limping a little. I hope not.

Urias strikes out Tatis. Take him out!

Could be a disaster inning.

Why would he take May out? Because he pitched last night? Or was it the night before?

Howard, your headline for this chat refers to Game 2, not 3.

One of the ways baseball has changed in my lifetime—the headfirst slide.

Roberts is gambling that Morejon will be out before Joc bats, which isn't a great bet. More importantly, Joc is liable to face a LHP in a second or third at bat. If so, they'll hit for him, having wasted as many as 2 ABs and not having Joc to pinch hit later vs. a RHP. #Dodgers
