Former Dodger Justin Turner Removed From Final Home Game in Unprecedented Way to Get Ovation From Boston Fans

Nice to see the impact he's made in Boston in his first year there.

Justin Turner became a fan favorite in Los Angeles over the course of his nine-year career for the Dodgers.

Turner completely revitalized his career in LA, making two All-Star teams and helping them win the World Series in 2020.

The team decided to move on from their clubhouse leader and fan favorite this offseason, and he ended up signing with the Boston Red Sox, who lost their designated hitter in J.D. Martinez to the Dodgers.

The move worked out very well for both teams, as both players have made great impacts on their respective teams on the field and in the locker room.

The Red Sox won't be going to the playoffs this year, though, so Wednesday's game is the team's final one at Fenway Park this season. And in their last home game, Red Sox manager Alex Cora made an unprecedented move to take Justin Turner out of the game via a mound visit to get him the ovation from the fans he deserves.

Take a look for yourself:

You love this move from Cora, who knew he wanted to get Turner out of the game in front of the fans so they could appreciate everything he's done for the team this season.

In his first year in Boston, Turner has been incredible, hitting .275 with 23 home runs, a career-high 96 RBIs and an OPS of .802. It's clear he's made the same impact on the team and the fans in Boston that Dodger fans saw for nine years.

Turner has a $13.4 million player option in the offseason, and it remains to be seen what he does with it. But it's clear the fans love him in Boston, and Wednesday's Fenway Park finale proved just that.
