The Dodgers need some help at the big league level and are the proud owners of the best farm system in baseball. Maybe some of those guys can help?

With that in mind, let's take a look around the minor league and see how some of LA's top prospects are doing so far this season.

Diego Cartaya, Catcher

Diego was in recent headlines as Will Smith went to the concussion injured list. Dave Roberts said he wasn't an option to get the MLB call up because "he needs to play." And play he certainly needs to do.

Cartaya made it to the Double-A level for the first time this season and is off to a slow start. Entering play on Wednesday, the catcher is hitting just .214 (6-28) with a .290 on-base percentage in 31 plate appearances and 7 games. He has a double and a home run. He's still just 21 and probably not an option to be called up this season.

Michael Busch, Infielder

Busch is on an absolute tear to open the season at Triple-A, further proving that he has nothing left to prove in the minor leagues. The 25-year-old infielder has a .349/.476/.515 triple slash line with 5 doubles, 2 homers, and 13 runs batted in.

He's ready to move up but has nowhere to play at the big league level... at least not yet. The organization has been working him more at third base of late, but he's still raw at the position. He's played mostly second base in his 4 professional seasons and appears serviceable enough, if you enjoy the old school look at fielding percentage (.972 Fld%, 1908.1 innings).

Busch is the best option the Dodgers have as a potential boost from the farm, but who knows what their plan is with him.

Bobby Miller, Pitcher

The heralded pitching prospect Miller has yet to appear in a game yet this season after dealing with some shoulder issues early in spring training. He didn't have a great year in 2022 but still has some of the best stuff on the mound in the system.

Like many Dodgers pitchers, it feels like Bobby won't be a true option until later in the season.

Gavin Stone, Pitcher

After bursting onto the scene during spring training, it's been a little up and a little down for Stone. In 4 AAA starts so far, he has a 7.20 ERA, but most of that damage came in his first start when he allowed 6 runs in 2.2 IP.

Since then, he's posted a more respectable 4.38 ERA (still not great) and has limited opposing batters to a .192 average. Walks a little bit of a problem with 8 free passes allowed in 15 innings this season.

Unless it's an emergency, we likely won't see Stone until the second half of the season. But still expect to see him at some point.
