Dodgers Down 2 Infielders for Tuesday’s Game Due to Injuries

In this story:
The Dodgers have already suffered more than enough injuries in the infield this season with the loss of starting shortstop Gavin Lux in spring training. Entering the 2023 season, the infield depth was extremely thin. Now five games in, it's getting even thinner.
The Dodgers are down two starting infielders for Tuesday's game against the Rockies — starting second baseman Miguel Vargas and starting shortstop Miguel Rojas.
Vargas is out of the lineup after being hit by a pitch in Monday's game. He was able to stay in the game, however, he's out of the lineup on Tuesday with some soreness. He is available to pinch-hit as it sounds like the fielding is the more difficult part for Vargas — the exact opposite of when he got hurt in spring training.
#Dodgers Miguel Vargas is still dealing with soreness after being hit by a pitch on his thumb in yesterdays game. Dave Roberts said he can swing the bat, but there is discomfort throwing. Given the off day tomorrow, they are going to rest him today, and reevaluate on Thursday.

Vargas isn't the only starter on the bench, though.
Dodgers starting shortstop — the guy replacing Lux in the starting lineup — was out of the lineup on Monday, and is again on the bench for Tuesday's clash with the Rockies. Rojas is reportedly dealing with some soreness in his groin that he suffered while trying to turn a double play in Sunday's game.
#Dodgers Miguel Rojas is dealing with soreness in his groin, after making a running throw/defensive play in the game the other night. He’s also down tonight.

Rojas doesn't appear to be available to come in today, so Chris Taylor is the lone shortstop on the roster.
It doesn't sound like either of these injuries are going to require any stint on the injured list, but we'll likely know more after the team's day off on Wednesday. But manager Dave Roberts sounded optimistic that both will be back sooner rather than later.
