Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Answers Simple Question, ‘Do You Want Shohei Ohtani?’

In this story:
Coming into the Freeway Series, there were plenty of storylines surrounding the rivalry between the Dodgers and Angels.
Both teams were trying to either turn around their season or solidify their place in playoff position -- a place the Angels haven't been since 2014.
Both teams have future Hall of Famers in Clayton Kershaw, Mookie Betts, and Mike Trout.
There's also that one other one.
Shohei Ohtani is currently a member of the Los Angeles Angels. He's also revolutionizing the game in a way that's never been done before with his clear two-way superstardom.
Also rather noteworthy: Shohei Ohtani is an impending free agent.
The power hitter and dynamic pitcher's contract expires at the end of this season, and after a sizable portion of fellow MLB players said they see Ohtani joining the Dodgers this offseason, manager Dave Roberts chimed in with this when asked if he would want Ohtani, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times.
“I don’t think there’s a manager that wouldn’t love Shohei,” Roberts said. “But right now, he’s an Angel, so I want to get hits off him, and I want to get him out four times tonight."
...
“And I can’t afford tampering charges.”
Roberts made it known this week that he's a fan of the icon, and I'm sure he would very much enjoy it if the biggest star of them all made his way up the I-5 to join his team's collection of stars on the other side of the rivalry.
And for what it's worth, although Ohtani shined on the mound Wednesday with a 12 strikeout performance, the Dodgers did get to him for a solo shot in the 2-0 win.
They also held him hitless in the two-game sweep.
Dave Roberts and his team crossed one Ohtani objective off the list.
And soon enough, they'll see if they can cross that last one off.
The biggest one of them all.
