Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Has Learned to 'Sit Back and Enjoy' Freddie Freeman Hot Streaks

In this story:
The Los Angeles Dodgers are on a hot run of late. Despite a loss on Sunday, they're 11-4 over the last couple of weeks and have vaulted into first place in the NL West. Suddenly, this looks like a team that can not only comfortably make it into October, but make some noise once they get there.
LA's hitting their usual stride to bookend the first and second halves of the season, a familiar zone for the franchise to be in after an inconsistent start to the year that saw them as far back as third place in the division.
Those difficulties are long gone for Los Angeles, and Freddie Freeman has been crucial in the Dodgers' turnaround.
The first baseman has been on a tear over that 15-game stretch, hitting an incredible .417 with six home runs and 16 RBI.
The fact that Freeman is playing well isn't surprising -- he's been a steady presence in the lineup since he signed with LA ahead of the 2021 season -- but the veteran's current run is something to behold.
And Dodger manager Dave Roberts said as much after his team's 16-3 rout of the Texas Rangers on Saturday, a win keyed by Freeman's two-homer day.
“Freddie is already an elite player, one of the best hitters in the game, a guy who can hit lefties, hit righties, hit to all fields, values driving in a run, can get a base hit when you need it, takes a walk … there’s nothing he can’t do on a baseball field. So when he’s on one of these heaters, man, you’ve just got to sit back and enjoy the ride, and everyone’s following suit behind him, in front of him, around him.”

Freeman's second year in blue has been his most productive, which says a lot considering his reputation as one of the most consistent hitters in baseball over his 14 MLB seasons.
But with the rate he's going at -- and the Dodger offense producing alongside him -- the southern California native may just lead his hometown team to sky high heights.
And with Freeman's consistency being a hallmark of his in this game of failure -- the one famous for making the sport's best look out of their element at times -- it doesn't seem like he'll slow down any time soon.

Matt Wagner was born and raised in southern California, and he lived there before moving to Colorado and getting his B.A. in Communications from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2022. He relocated back to southern California in 2023 and is looking forward to covering the teams that mean so much to his home area. Some of his past work is in Bleacher Report, Dodgers Tailgate, and, most recently, Colorado Buffaloes Wire. Aside from writing, you can probably catch him petting the nearest dog or eating some good Mexican food.
