Dodgers News: LA Activates Slugger Off Injured List Ahead of Series Opener at Coors Field

In this story:
The Dodgers made a roster move ahead of their series in Denver against the Colorado Rockies, and it's the return of a much anticipated slugger that's making headlines this week.
Los Angeles activated infielder Max Muncy from the 15-day injured list on Tuesday, as the veteran will head back to the field after straining his left hamstring earlier this month.

Infielder Michael Busch was optioned back to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.
Muncy was slated to return last week, but a setback in his recovery forced those plans to be pushed back slightly, leaving the veteran slugger to come back at the hitter's paradise that is Coors Field.
Muncy's overall hitting is below his high standards this season -- he has a slash line of .191/.323/.474 in 60 games this season to go along with a career high 27.9 percent strikeout rate -- but his usual home run power has still been there for the slugger this year.
His 18 home runs put him in a tie for sixth in the National League, and he continues to present a significant power threat when he makes contact.
So for Muncy and the Dodgers, his return to action taking place in Denver should be welcome news for both parties.
And from a longer term perspective, if Muncy can find his rhythm in Colorado, that'll be excellent news for a team that's looking to straighten their season out.
The Dodgers have won four out of their last five games, but still sit three games out of first place in the NL West behind the San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks.
If Muncy can come back and regain his usual form, and the pitching staff can continue to improve as they have over the past week, LA could be in prime position to again make a run toward the top of the division as the All Star break approaches.
