Dodgers News: Mookie Betts Says He Had a Big Game for Someone Special on Friday

In this story:
Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts lived up to his title on Friday night.
In the Dodgers' 9-3 win over the Kansas City Royals, Betts was unstoppable.
In the top of the first inning, Betts led the game off with a home run, his 21st of the year and ninth leadoff home run of the year, the most in baseball.
Then, in the top of the third inning, he led off the inning with his second home run of the game, and 22nd of the year.
Mookie Betts is absurd.

He has home runs No. 21 and 22 on the year and the Dodgers lead 2-0.
I think he’s ready for the Home Run Derby.

In his next at-bat in the top of the fourth inning, Betts drove in Jason Heyward on an RBI single.
After walking in his fourth at-bat, Betts doubled in Miguel Rojas in the top of the seventh inning.
Then, to close things out, he walked in his sixth and final at-bat in the top of the ninth.
All in all, Betts went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four runs batted in, and reached base in all six of his plate appearances.
It was truly a superstar-like performance, and after the game, he explained why he had to go off on Friday night (per Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register).
"My mom is here. So I had to let her know (he’s ready for the All-Star festivities)," Betts said.
Betts' mom has made it clear that she doesn't want her son coming in last place in the Home Run Derby, so he wanted her to see that she had nothing to worry about.
Additionally, I think it's time to start a petition to get Betts' mother at every single game, because I don't think the Dodgers would lose if Betts was doing this on a consistent night.
And it's not just the offense that comes from Betts, but the whole team feeds off of it, according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts after the game.
"It was clear that we just go off his energy, his performance and he got us going again tonight," Roberts said. "And the guys fed off of that."
Hopefully Betts' mom stays in Kansas City for the rest of the weekend.
