The Dodgers roster may not have the same level of talent they had last year, but they’re still loaded with some of the game’s best players.

Between Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman, it already feels like an All-Star lineup. Add in Will Smith, who’s playing like one of the game’s best catchers, and that’s as scary a 1-2-3 as it gets.

The Dodgers are always going to be in contention, which is why, when awards season rolls around, they're always going to be in the mix.

Last year, Freeman came in 4th place for the NL's Most Valuable Player Award, while Betts followed right behind him in 5th. Former Dodger Trea Turner finished in 11th, while Julio Urias finished in 14th.

This year, though, Hall of Fame pitcher and current TBS analyst Pedro Martinez has higher expectations. He predicts that one of those Dodger superstars takes home the award, and makes some serious history along the way.

"I just have a hard time going against Mookie," Martinez said. "Mookie is just the sign of consistency, and Mookie is already set in LA. I've seen it in Boston ... and then I kept seeing another extraordinary year and he just keeps on doing it. He's now settled in LA, he knows what he needs to do, he's got paid. His family is already settled in LA. Mookie is about to have another monster season for the LA Dodgers."

If Betts were to win the award, he would become just the second player in MLB history to win an MVP in both the American and National Leagues. The other is Frank Robinson.

Also, if Betts takes home the award, he would be the Dodgers 15th MVP Award winner in franchise history, and the first since Cody Bellinger in 2019.

He would add yet another star on his Hall of Fame resume, and would put himself well on his way to going down as one of the greatest Dodgers ever. Of course, it's still early for that. But considering he's in year four of a 12-year deal, he would have plenty of time to etch his name in LA's record books.

Also, if Betts has an MVP season, that means the Dodgers are going to be really good again in 2023. So, here's to an incredible 2023 season for Betts that ends in historic fashion.
