The SF Giants had to lose at some point, right? After taking the first three games of the series against the Padres, their 10 game win streak finally came to a close Thursday, as they failed to find their offense against Blake Snell.

Having gotten through two games against the Padres relying in a big way on bulk-innings from relievers, the Giants turned to Alex Wood to start Thursday's game. Coming in with a 4.11 ERA and only three home runs allowed, the team looked to extend their winning streak to 11 games behind one of their rotation's true starters.

Unfortunately, the Padres had a lot of runs in the tank they'd been waiting all week to score against the Giants, and the trouble started for Wood with the very first batter. He walked Ha-Seong Kim and Juan Soto, but managed to draw fly-outs from formidable Fernando Tatís Jr. and Manny Machado. With two men out and two men on, he allowed ex-Giant Gary Sánchez to hit a home run to deep center, putting the Padres up 3-0.

But it didn't stop there; in the third he walked Tatís Jr., and allowed a bunt single from Soto. Machado hit another three-run homer to almost the same spot as Sánchez to put the Padres up 6-0. Wood would only get to see 1.1 more innings before Kapler brought in Jakob Junis as relief.

Junis' first batter was Kim, who'd been hot all series. He unleashed a solo home run just to the left of Sánchez and Machado's to put the Padres up 7-0. Junis wouldn't get out of the next inning easily, either. In the fifth, he allowed two singles and two doubles to give up three more runs. The Padres went up 10-0.

With the Giants lineup understandably beat up, Mike Yastrzemski the latest to face injury, the team just had no answer for Blake Snell's incredible outing. He pitched six solid innings and struck out 11.

David Villar was brought in to close out the ninth inning for the Giants. He joins Brandon Crawford in pitching a scoreless inning, tallying a 0.0 ERA. A shame for the Giants to not only lose so poorly, but also to do so in front of the legendary Buster Posey. But as Mike Krukow said, the Giants can always "start a new win streak tomorrow."
