The Cleveland Guardians just aren't playing good baseball right now. There's just no other way to put it.

They won the series opener on Monday against the New York Yankees thanks to a ninth-inning meltdown from Clay Holmes and some questionable decisions from manager Aaron Boone. The offense put up just five runs over the next two games which usually isn't enough to win one game at Yankee Stadium.

Cleveland got off to a nice start after scoring two runs off of base hits from Josh Bell and Andres Gimenez. One could argue that those runs shouldn't have even crossed the plate with two defensive miscues coming before them that should've had the Yankees out of the inning.

Cleveland went scoreless the rest of the game until Oscar Gonzalez took the lead on a pinch-hit bloop. New York was also struggling to score so it was a great opportunity for Emmanuel Clase to come into the game and close it out.

However, the closer allowed the Yankees to tie the game in the ninth and Trevor Stephan let the walk-off come in the eighth.

It's clear what needs to change. The offense has been nowhere to be found and Cleveland is quickly becoming one of the worst run-scoring teams in MLB which has caused issues over the last few weeks.

The Guardians' loss to New York is now their fifth straight series loss. Their last series victory came against the Washington Nationals in the middle of April. Since then they've lost to Detroit, Miami, Colorado, Boston, and now New York.

Something is going to have to change and fast. The Minnesota Twins come to town on Friday and they have a chance to create some real separation from the Guardians with a series victory or sweep.
