CLEVELAND, Ohio - On Saturday afternoon, the Cleveland Indians played the Seattle Mariners in their second game of a three-game weekend series. The Indians came into the game with a record of 12-10 and the Mariners came in with a record of 11-13.

The Mariners took the first game of the three-game series with a 3-1 victory on Friday night.

In the first inning of Saturday's game, the Mariners and Indians combined for 7 runs in the first inning alone.

The Indians came away with a 4-3 victory and improved to 13-10 on the season and the Mariners fell to 11-14.

Here's our three takeaways from the Indians 4-3 victory.

1.) Anything you can do, I can do better

In the first inning of the game, the Mariners struck for 3 runs and had back to back homers from Nelson Cruz and Kyle Seager. The Mariners had the first two batters in the game set down but had three consecutive hits.

The Indians answered back quickly though. Mariners starter, Yovani Gallardo walked Carlos Santana and Francisco Lindor to start the first inning. After Michael Brantley flew out to left field, Edwin Encarnacion drew a walk which loaded the bases for Jose Ramirez.

Ramirez drove in two runs for the Tribe with a double and advanced Encarnacion to third with 1 out. Two batters later Lonnie Chisenhall, drove in 2 more runs with a single up the middle and gave the Indians the lead 4-3 early in the first inning.

The Indians sent 9 batters up to the plate to start off the game.

2.) Smooth Sailing for SalazarDanny Salazar started the game with a rough first inning. After Salazar set down the first two batters in the game the Mariners strung together three consecutive hits. Cano started the string of hits with a 2-out double. Cruz followed with a 2-run homer to give the Mariners a 2-0 lead early. Seager hit a solo homer which gave the Mariners a 3-0 lead. After the first inning, it was smooth sailing for Salazar. Salazar pitched 6.1 innings and did not give up a hit after the first inning. Salazar only gave up 3 hits total in his start, gave up 3 earned runs, walked 3, and struck out 6. Salazar earned his second victory of the season and is now 2-2 on the year with a 4.34 ERA.

3.) Indians Pitching Nearly Perfect As mentioned previously, Salazar only had a rough inning in the first to begin the game and held the Mariners hitless after that inning. The Indians bullpen also held the Mariners hitless and were nearly perfect outside of an Andrew Miller walk. Miller put in 1.2 innings of work and struck out 4 of the 6 batters that he faced in this afternoon's appearance. Cody Allen came on in the 9th inning looking to slam the door. Allen only faced 3 batters in the 9th inning. Allen started the 9th inning by making Kyle Seager fly out to right field and had two consecutive strikeouts. Cody Allen earned his 6th save of the 2017 season.

The Indians will be looking to win their second consecutive series tomorrow. The Tribe will be sending out Josh Tomlin and will be matched up against Chase De Jong of the Mariners.
