Bauers Goes Down with an Ankle Sprain; Freeman to Start Monday's Game in Left Field

CLEVELAND - The Indians will be without the services of Jake Bauers for tonight's game against the Royals at Progressive Field after he went down with an injury

CLEVELAND - The Indians will be without the services of Jake Bauers for tonight's game against the Royals at Progressive Field after he went down with an injury during batting practice.

The team announced that Bauers is out with a left ankle sprain. The Indians outfielder/first basemen injured the ankle while fielding a fly ball during batting practice.

Bauers is hitting .224 this season with nine homers and 28 runs batted in. He's played in 73 of the 77 games the Tribe has played so far in 2019.

Mike Freeman will take Bauers' spot in left field for Monday night's game.
