CLEVELAND – Indians righty Carlos Carrasco entered Wednesday night's matchup with the Cincinnati Reds one strikeout shy of 1,000 for his career. He wasted no time getting it.

In his second start since returning off the disabled list, Carrasco reached the histoic milestone by setting down Reds right fielder Scott Schebler looking with a 95-mph fastball to leadoff the game. It comes nearly nine years after the 31-year-old stuck out his first batter on Sept. 1, 2009. Now, he's the 12th pitcher in Indians history to record 1,000 strikeouts. Teammate Corey Kluber ranks third on the franchise's all-time list with 1,324 Ks.

As the inning proceeded, Carrasco mowed down two more battes in the inning, mixed in with two singles. Finishing the inning earned Carrasco another statistical grand, as it became his 1,000th inning pitched.
