Gomer's Grand Slam Lifts Indians to 6-4 Win Over Royals; Three Takeaways

The Cleveland Indians won their third straight on Tuesday night, as their winning ways against the Royals continued with a 6-4 win.
The big hit of the night was a grand slam by Yan Gomes that pushed the Indians ahead for good 6-4. Shane Bieber picked up the win, and the pen did the rest in a win that puts the Indians at 47-37 on the season, 10 games over .500.
The Indians would get 2 early runs in the first inning. An RBI single from second baseman Jose Ramirez. First baseman Yonder Alonso with a sacrifice fly to center field.
In the bottom of the first, the Royals would respond. The Royals would tie the game on a 2-run home run from first baseman Lucas Duda. Fast forward to the bottom of the second.
Second baseman Whitt Merrifield would get an RBI single. Followed by an RBI double from shortstop Rosell Herrera.
In the top of sixth inning. A hero was revealed for the Indians, as Gomes hit a grand slam. The Indians would take a 6-4 lead.
Here are three keys to tonight's victory.
1. Bieber Didn't Back Down
The Royals roughed up the rookie pitcher for four runs in the first two innings. The next four innings would be lights out for RHP Shane Bieber.
Bieber went 6 innings tonight. Giving up 9 hits, 4 earned runs, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts, and 1 home run.
2. Brandon Guyer
Guyer has been battling wrist injuries dating all the way back to the postseason 2016. Tonight was different. Guyer made a couple of spectacular defensive plays.
He also got on a base a couple times. Including taking a hit by a pitch that led to the Indians eventually taking the lead in the sixth, the issue was though is he had to leave the game in the 9th inning with what's being called a left knee contusion, ending what was a good night until the injury.
3. The Bullpen Continues to Improve
It's no secret. The Indians bullpen has struggled throughout the regular season. Within the last month, the bullpen has taken several strides forward in becoming a dominant bullpen.
Tonight was no different. RHP Neil Ramirez has been able to bridge the gap from the starters to closer Cody Allen. It was a historic night for Allen, who notched another save, tying the franchise record all-time for saves.
