The hope was that Indians outfielder Michael Brantley would be able to get back on the field after he played in some minor league games last week, but now his return to the big league roster is a mystery.

Zach Misel of Cleveland.com tweets out that Brantley had a procedure to remove scar tissue, and while he'll resume playing activities soon, there's no date for a possible return to the Tribe.

It's been a long season of waiting for Brantley, who has only been able to play in 11 games due to the injured shoulder, which he hurt last September in Minnesota.

The Indians enter play on Friday night in Baltimore with a seven game lead over the Tigers in the AL Central.
