The Indians bullpen took a big hit last night with losing Bryan Shaw to the Rockies, and today it appears they are going to lose another free agent, as Joe Smith is heading to the World Series Champion Houston Astros.

Smith came back to the Indians last season in a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays in a deal that was a homecoming, and was with the team out of the pen through the postseason.

Overall he threw in 59 games between the Indians and Astros, and posted a 3.33 ERA, striking out 71 and walking 10 in 54 innings. He earned one save in 21 outings with the Indians.

The move comes hours after the team sent relief pitcher Shawn Armstrong to the Seattle Mariners for International Pool Bonus Money.
