Indians Get Right Back to Winning, Slam Mariners 11-4; Three Takeaways From the Victory

After just their second loss in 28 games, the Indians took out a little aggression on the Seattle Mariners on Saturday afternoon, pounding Seattle 11-4.
The win puts the Tribe at 97-58 on the season, and with 7 games left to play, the team has a great shot to get to 100 wins, something that could have been considered laughable earlier this season.
Carlos Carrasco was solid for the Tribe, going 5.2, allowing just a run, and the team after Seattle closed the gap to 3-1 in the 6th, scored eight runs over the last three innings to put the game away.
Here's today's takeaways from the huge win, as the Indians continue to put pressure on both the Astros who are trying to rally back into the AL's best mark, and the Dodgers, who are trying to hold off the Indians for the best mark in all of baseball.
3. Power Surge
The Indians bats were somewhat silent both on Thursday and Friday, as Thursday they needed a Frankie Lindor three-run blast to beat the Angels in their final game of the sweep.
Friday they did little in the offensive department, as they were held hitless after the fourth inning and eventually Nelson Cruz's 9th inning homer did them in.
Saturday was a totally different story, as the team went back to using the long ball and big innings to pound the M's into submission.
Yan Gomes hit a pair of homers, and Frankie Lindor and Jose Ramirez joined the homer parade as well. The team slammed the Mariners over the last three innings with eight runs, including five in the 9th to make sure they wouldn't have to worry about any Seattle comebacks.
Overall the Tribe put up 14 hits, six of which were either doubles or homers. A welcome sight after some offensive yawns the last two days.
2. Calm, Cool, Carlos
Carlos Carrasco was very good on Saturday for the Indians, going 5.2, allowing a single run on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
Carrasco threw 92 pitches, 62 of which were strikes, and kept the M's off the scoreboard for all but one inning in which they cut the Indians lead to 3-1.
In his last six starts, Carrasco has been the winning pitcher in five of those starts, and overall has allowed seven runs in 47 innings.
He's going to be on the bump a lot as the Indians look to progress in the postseason, and again he's proved his worth in a big way during the teams run of success.
1. Road Warriors
The Indians will enter Sunday's finale against the Mariners looking for their 53rd road win of 2017, this against just 28 losses if they can pull it off.
Consider last season the team was 41-39 on the road, their ability to play well in tough places and not just that but at times dominate is a reason many feel the Tribe might just steamroll their way to the World Series.
Last season the St.Louis Cardinals were the best team in baseball in terms of play on the road, going 48-33, and this season, two teams - Washington and Houston, have 47 wins away from their home parks, still five games back of what the Tribe has done to date on the road.
Think about this crazy stat - the Indians have gone 23-3 on the road since August 11th, and at one point went 15-1, numbers that in this day and age in Major League Baseball you just don't see.
A win on Sunday will put a stamp on the Indians being heads and tails in 2017 the best team in all of baseball when it comes to playing on the road.
