Indians President Chris Antonetti Updates the Condition of OF Leonys Martin

The Indians have been rather silent as they give privacy towards the ongoing condition of newly acquired outfielder Leonys Martin, but today finally team President Chris Antonetti updated the media on Martin's condition.

And the news is positive.

Martin has been dealing with a life-threatening bacterial infection that attacked his internal organs. Antonetti said via TJ Zuppe's of The Athletic's Twitter that the outfielder is stable condition, and is improving.

"Leonys is currently in stable condition. He continues to get treatment at the Cleveland Clinic," Antonetti said. "We're optomistic that he'll have a full recovery.

"Leony's had a bacterial infection that entered his blood stream. When it entered his blood stream, it produced toxins. Those toxins did damage to his internal organs. The functioning of those organs was compromised. It was severe."

It was just Friday that Indians manager Terry Francona asked for thoughts and prayer for the outfielder.

Martin came to the Tribe on the date of the trade deadline, July 31st, and in six games for Cleveland, he is 5-for-15 from the plate with two homers and four RBI.
