While things seemed to be moving in a positive direction for Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor, it looks like his return to the team's roster will take longer than he wanted.

The Tribe announced today that Lindor had sustained an acute left ankle sprain running the bases on Tuesday during a Minor League game.

He did have an MRI, and it showed that he has a mild to moderate left ankle sprain.

Lindor went down in early February with a moderate right calf strain, and has been rehabbing to get back on the field ever since.

It's not known exactly how long the new injury will keep him out of action, but for now it appears that Eric Stamets will be the teams' shortstop moving forward.

The hope was is that Lindor would be back April 4th on the teams' roster ready to play, but now he's got two injuries to recover from.
