Preview: Indians Open Up Three-Game Set Tonight in Comerica Against the Tigers

Following taking two of three from the AL Central rival Royals over the weekend, the Tribe will now head to the road for the next 11 days, taking on the Tigers for three starting tonight in Comerica Park.
The Tigers are a very different team that many Tribe fans are use to seeing, as there is no doubt they are in rebuild mode, sitting at 17-22 after 39 games.
Detroit makes no bones about the fact that they are no longer the big boys of the Central, and it looks like they will be sellers at the trade deadline in about 10 weeks, and they are a team that has at least 2-3 years of bad baseball ahead of them before they are back to the level they were when they owned the division.
Let's take a look at tonight's game with a quick preview as Carlos Carrasco will take the mound in game one for the Tribe.
Time: 7:10 p.m.
Starting Pitchers: RHP Carlos Carrasco (5-1, 3.61) vs. RHP Mike Fiers (3-2, 4.72)

1. Carrasco Against the Tigers
Carlos Carrasco knows the Tigers more than any other team in the league when it comes to pitching against them, as in his career he's 11-7 with a 3.67 ERA against the Tigers.
They were the team that two years ago ended his season with the line drive that hit his hand, and in 2016 it was Comerica Park where Carrasco hurt his hammy against the Tigers that put him on the shelf.
Two years later he's hoping to stay healthy against the Tigers, and this season in his lone start against Detroit he was impressive, beating them with a three-hitter.
In his last start Carrasco dominated the Brewers, going the distance striking out 14 in a 6-2 win over Milwaukee last week on the road.
2. Hot Hitting Wahoo's
The top of the Indians lineup had a huge three-game set over the Royals as the threesome of Francisco Lindor, Michael Brantley and Jose Ramirez led a lineup that were able to put up runs in bunches.
The Tribe is second in MLB putting up 5.6 runs per game over the last four weeks, and a lot of that has to do with the top of the lineup plus now the addition of Brantley hitting second over Jason Kipnis.
Considering how the Tigers pitching staff is not nearly as good as it has been in years past, the next three games should be much of the same with the Indians being able to score runs.
1. The Lowdown on Fiers
Tigers starter Mike Fiers will take the hill on Monday night, and the former Astros hurler comes into play Monday at 3-2 with a 4.73 ERA.
In his last start against the Rangers, he went 5.1 innings, allowing two runs on six hits with no walks and five strikeouts.
He's not faced the Indians since May 20th of last season when he was with Houston, and in that game he was very good, allowing an earned run on six hits in six innings in an Indians 3-0 win.
With the way the Tribe offense has been on a tear as of late, the runs should come Monday night in Comerica.
