While the regular season is far from over for the Tribe, already Major League Baseball has announced the Indians and the the rest of the leagues' 2019 schedule, released today.
You can check out the entire 2019 schedule by clicking HERE.
With the schedule out, fans can not only start looking ahead to what teams the Tribe will play next season in Interleague play, but can also start planning their sick days for opening day at Progressive Field as well as any other days you might be 'under the weather.'
Here's a couple takeaways from a first glance at the schedule and what should be another exciting year for the Indians as they look to continue their run of dominance in the AL Central.
1. The Home Opener
The day that everyone seems to circle first on the schedule is that of the home opener, and this season the Tribe's opener will take place on a Monday (making it a three-day weekend for most) April 1st against the AL Central's Chicago White Sox.
The home opener begins a six-game homestand featuring a two-game series against the White Sox (April 1st and April 3rd) and a four-game series against Toronto (April 4th through the 7th).
Opening against the Sox is nothing new as it seems with so many games against the AL Central it's no uncommon for them to open up against a Central foe.
2. The Interleague Games
In 2019 the Indians will play the NL East, which will include home games against the Atlanta Braves (April 19-21), Miami Marlins (April 23-24), and Philadelphia Phillies (Sept. 20-22).
The Indians will also play their usual 'Ohio Cup' opponent in the Cincinnati Reds, and next season the home series against the Reds will be a two-game set on June 11th and 12th.
One interesting set of games for the Indians will be seven-game road swing through the Big Apple, as they will play the Yankees August 15th through the 19th, and then stay in New York for three games against the Mets and old friend Mickey Callaway from August 20th to the 22nd.
3. Yankees and Red Sox
Two teams that a lot of Indians fans get their blood boiling for is the hated Yankees and Red Sox, and in 2019 both will be making their annual appearance at Progressive Field.
The Yankees will be in Cleveland for a three-game set on June 7th, 8th and 9th, which is great as it's over a weekend - Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
As for the Red Sox, they will be in C-Town for three games in August, starting on a Monday the 12th, and playing Tuesday the 13th and Wednesday the 14th.
4. The Breakdown
As far as home and away for the 2019 season, here's how things stack up:
March (3 road), April: (11 home/14 road), May: (18 home/11 road), June: (14 home/12 road), July: (12 home/12 road), August: (13 home/16 road), September/October: (13 home/13 road).
The team has one 11-game homestand, and that will be in May from 16th till May 26th (vs. Orioles, Athletics, Rays).
The Tribe also has one 10-game homestand, that will be from July 12th to July 21th (vs. Twins, Tigers, Royals).
The longest road trip of the season is nine games, that will be in April from the 9th till the 17th (at Tigers, Royals, Mariners).
One last note of interest, 16 of the final 25 games in 2019 will be against divisional opponents.
