New York Mets Set Pitching Probables For Cincinnati Series

The New York Mets will start with David Peterson as they host the Cincinnati Reds for three games starting on Friday.

The New York Mets have set their pitching probables for their three-game series with the Cincinnati Reds, which starts on Friday at Citi Field.

Friday’s opener and Saturday’s game is set for 7:10 p.m. eastern. Sunday’s finale is set for 1:40 p.m.

David Peterson (3-8, 5.34) is expected to start for the Mets on Friday against Cincinnati’s Hunter Greene (4-6, 4.43).

Peterson, a left-hander, took a loss in his last outing against Minnesota on Saturday, giving up eight hits and three earned runs in six innings. He struck out eight and walked one. In his last seven starts, he is 0-1 with a 4.22 ERA, with 35 strikeouts and 17 walks in 32 innings.

Greene, a right-hander, has won his last two starts. Against St. Louis on Sunday, he gave up one hit and no runs in six innings. He struck out nine and walked four. In his last seven starts he is 3-2 with a 4.84 ERA, with 43 strikeouts and 20 two walks in 35.1 innings.

Saturday’s matchup is expected to be Mets left-hander José Quintana (3-5, 3.05) against Cincinnati left-hander Andrew Abbott (8-5, 3.64).

Quintana took a no-decision in his last start against Arizona on Sunday. He allowed five hits and two earned runs in five innings. He also struck out four and walked two. In his last seven starts he is 2-3 with a 2.83 ERA, with 33 strikeouts and 18 walks in his last 41.1 innings. Due to injuries, this is only his 11th start of the season.

Abbott, a rookie, lost his last start against St. Louis last Friday, as the Cardinals claimed four hits and six earned runs in just four innings. Abbott struck out three but he also walked three. His ERA in his last seven starts is 6.09 with a 2-3 record. He also has 36 strikeouts and 17 walks in his last 34 innings.

Tylor Megill (8-7, 5.03) is expected to start for the Mets on Sunday against the Reds left-hander Brandon Williamson (4-4, 4.47).

Megill took a no-decision in his last start against Minnesota last Sunday. He threw five solid innings, allowing just two hits and no runs. He walked four and struck out two. He has 32 strikeouts and 14 walks in 36.0 innings in his last seven games and has a 2-3 record with a 4.75 ERA in that span.

Williamson, a rookie, took a no-decision in his last start on Tuesday against Detroit. He gave up seven hits in four innings, allowing five earned runs. He struck out four and walked two. In his last seven starts he is 1-2 with a 4.46 ERA, with 43 strikeouts and eight walks in his last 38.1 innings.

After Cincinnati, the Mets head to Miami to begin a series with the Marlins on Monday.
