New York Mets Set Starting Pitchers for Miami Series

In this story:
The New York Mets have set their pitching probables for their three-game series with the Miami Marlins, which starts on Monday at LoanDepot Park.
All three games are set for 6:40 p.m. eastern.
Monday, the Mets are expected throw rookie right-hander José Butto (1-2, 3.46) against Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera (6-7, 4.52).
Butto won his last start against Arizona on Monday, as he gave up two hits, one earned run and three walks in 5.1 innings. He also struck out seven. He will make his seven appearance of the season and fifth start. Monday’s victory doubled as his first MLB victory.
Cabrera took the loss against Milwaukee on Tuesday. He gave up just one hit and two earned runs in 4.2 innings, but he walked six and struck out five. In his last seven games (five of which were starts), he is 2-3 with a 4.55 ERA. He has 30 strikeouts and 24 walks in his last 27.2 innings.
The Mets are expected to start left-hander Joey Lucchesi (3-0, 2.83) against Marlins left-hander Braxton Garrett (9-6, 3.67) in Tuesday’s game.
Lucchesi has given the Mets solid work lately. He’s won his last two starts, including his seven-inning run against Arizona on Wednesday. He gave up five hits and three walks, while striking out two. He didn’t give up a run. This will be just his eighth start of the season after spending most of the season in the minor leagues.
Garrett is coming off a victory in his last start against Milwaukee on Wednesday. He gave up four hits and two walks in six innings, while striking out seven. In his last seven starts he has a 4-3 record with a 2.33 ERA, with 25 strikeouts and eight walks in 38.2 innings.
In Wednesday’s finale the Mets are expected to start rookie right-hander Kodai Senga (11-7, 2.95). The Marlins have not set their starter.
Senga is getting Rookie of the Year and Cy Young attention as he enters the stretch drive. He’s coming off a win over Arizona on Thursday, as he gave up two hits and two walks in six innings. He also struck out 10 as he didn’t give up a run. He is 4-1 with a 2.22 ERA in his last seven starts, as he has 55 strikeouts and 17 walks in his last 44.2 innings.
After the Mets wrap up their series with the Marlins they head to Philadelphia for a four-game series with the Phillies.
